Welcome to our beginner’s guide to the family-fun card game "Pinochle" (Fletcher style). This version of Pinochle described is a nearly traditional form of four-handed Pinochle. I wanted to create a simple beginner’s guide to help first-timers learn to play. The name ‘two-eyes’ allegedly refers to the original picture cards that form a Pinochle when the game was first played. Each royal displayed on the cards in that particular deck had 1 eye showing each in their pictures profile, so scoring a pair forms the two-eyes. Learning the Pinochle rules can be a challenge even for experienced card game players. The player with the highest meld announces first, and the other players follow in a clockwise direction. A double pinochle is a combination of two pinochles from the same suit, worth 30 points. A pinochle is a combination of a queen and a jack from the same suit, worth 4 points. If chips are used, there may be a central pile from which each player draws enough chips to represent the number of points he scores. Alternatively, each player may be provided with chips representing 1000, from which the appropriate chips are removed as points are scored. A misdeal in a cards game is an error by the dealer which calls for a re-deal
