Ringly, the maker of a line of smart jewellery for women including a high-tech ring that buzzes and lights up when you receive a phone name or textual content, has raised $5.1 million in Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, the corporate introduced this morning. To this point, Ringly has raised $6.1 million. The funding comes shortly after Ringly wrapped up pre-gross sales for its ring, which is at the moment bought on-line. The gadget, which comes with completely different stones and band choices, was dreamed up by Christina Mercando, who used to work as a Senior Product and Design Manager at eBay. She realized that many ladies have a behavior of keeping their telephones of their purses, and so have been lacking essential calls and texts. The thought with Ringly is that the jewellery itself will warn you to these incoming messages, even when your phone is out of attain. At Ringly, Mercando is joined by a workforce of designers and engineers hailing from MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and Stanford whose backgrounds include neuroscience, machine learning and mechatronics.
